Internal Medicine physician Mina Tanaka, MD, has joined TAN Healthcare (Triangle Area Network), a growing not-for-profit primary health center with locations in Beaumont, Orange and mobile sites throughout the region.

“We are thrilled with the addition of Dr. Tanaka. She brings specialized expertise and clinical knowledge to our medical team,” said Dena Hughes, TAN Healthcare CEO. “She is now part of an outstanding group of healthcare providers and staff members who are dedicated to serving the health needs of individuals and families in our area in a way that provides accessible, customer-focused primary care and preventive health services and in an environment of caring, respect and dignity.”

Dr. Tanaka will be splitting her time between the two TAN Healthcare centers in Beaumont and Orange seeing patients for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases from routine care to complex illness. Dr. Tanaka also has special interests in increasing health care access for rural patients, in women’s health (including reproductive health), as well as in behavioral health and substance use disorders.

“I am so excited to be joining the TAN family. The moment I stepped foot in TAN, I felt in my core that everyone here truly cared about the communities they were serving, and it wasn’t a “punch in, punch out” kind of place. I was so impressed by the amount of community outreach that TAN does,” said Dr. Tanaka. “I had always hoped I would find a practice that shares my practice philosophy that health isn’t just prescribing medicines, but really getting to know the patients and the community. I was so touched by the level of dedication to keeping people safe and taken care of during and after Harvey. Coming back nearly a year later, I see how much TAN has continued to grow and all of the amazing services it offers. It’s incredible and I can’t wait to join the efforts.”

Dr. Tanaka earned her medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford and completed her Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital’s primary care program. She also earned her Master of Public Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York.

She joins the clinic’s medical director, Shannon Ray Schrader, MD, an experienced and trusted family practice physician who has been serving the Southeast Texas community and Houston area for over 20 years, and the advanced practitioners–My’Eisha Casmire, FNP, Larissa DeBlanc, FNP, and Anita Drake, FNP—as they strive to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to each patient they see.

The center also provides behavioral health counseling, patient navigation, and an onsite pharmacy, PharmBlue Texas, which offers easy packaging and home delivery. TAN continues its specialized care for individuals with chronic conditions such as HIV, Hepatitis C, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity.

To enhance access to primary care in underserved areas, TAN Healthcare’s new mobile services division offers monthly clinics in the following communities: Batson, Ivanhoe, Raywood, and Trout Creek. To find out when the Medical & More Mobile Health Clinic is in your area, call 409-550-1067.
